    Nowadays, the .locked file is created when the container is fully launched with all the components and SA redeployed. This behavior is kinda problematic in production environment, since we have no way to kill the process (if it comes to a crash). The only way to kill the process is to manually perform a ps and select the right instance of JVM to kill it.

    It would be way simpler to create the .locked with the process PID first.

I suggest to re-affect this bug to the petals exploitation project, because it's an OS specific issue.

I don't see why this issue is OS specific. The .locked creation is code within the PetalsESB sourcecode. To me, the creation of this file is independant of the OS .

In fact, it must be at the scripting level, because it demands system commands to do that, OS dependent.
BUT, because of politic, i have done that in the Java code, to terminate a 'long term discussion' around that problem...
